New Jersey A3165 requires telemarketers to display their name and number on caller ID for sales calls.

New Jersey A3165 amends existing telemarketing laws to mandate that telemarketers display their name and number on caller identification services when making sales calls. The bill also prohibits telemarketers from using methods that block caller ID or misrepresent their identity. Additionally, it restricts calls to between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. and requires telemarketers to identify themselves and the purpose of the call within the first 30 seconds. The act takes effect immediately but remains inoperative for 60 days after enactment.
