New Jersey A3123 requires district boards of education to include a financial literacy course in local graduation requirements for a State-endorsed diploma. This bill mandates that high school students complete the course, which must cover budgeting, savings, credit, debt, insurance, investment, behavioral economics, banking, consumer skills, taxes, and college financial planning. The instruction must be taught by teachers with specific endorsements in business, finance, economics, law, family and consumer sciences, social studies, or middle school social studies.
