Introduced Text

New Jersey Transit must notify the public of routine maintenance and significant service reductions.

The bill mandates that the New Jersey Transit Corporation (NJ Transit) provide two weeks' notice of routine maintenance and significant closures on motorbus routes, rail lines, and light rail lines. The notice must be given in writing to municipalities, institutes of higher education, and schools affected; posted at transit facilities; made available through a mobile application; and include information on alternative transit options. Continuing notice must be posted on NJ Transit’s website until the routine maintenance is completed or the service is restored.
