Introduced Text

New Jersey A3023 allows county boards of commissioners to establish auxiliary fire departments.

New Jersey A3023 allows county boards of county commissioners to establish auxiliary fire departments to supplement staffing of municipal fire departments and fire districts within the county. The board must submit a plan to the State fire coordinator for review and approval before establishing the department. County firefighters will be under the direction of municipal fire officers during emergencies. The bill exempts expenses for the establishment of a county fire department and force from county budget caps.
