Exempts volunteer fire companies from charitable registration fees in New Jersey.

New Jersey A2985 would exempt volunteer fire companies from paying charitable registration fees. Currently, tax-exempt organizations raising funds must pay fees based on the amount raised, with those raising between $100,000 and $500,000 paying $150. Volunteer fire companies, which raise funds for protecting life and property, would no longer need to pay these fees. This change would benefit approximately 750 fire organizations, which currently pay fees totaling about $52,000.
