Requires electric public utility to reimburse customers for spoiled food, medicine, or perishable goods due to sustained power outage.

This bill mandates that electric public utilities in New Jersey reimburse residential and commercial customers for spoiled food, prescription medicine, or perishable goods caused by a sustained power outage lasting more than 48 hours. A residential customer can be reimbursed up to $540, while a commercial customer can be reimbursed up to $10,700. Utilities must provide ice and water at a centralized location to mitigate loss. Utilities cannot include the reimbursement amount in their rate base or recover it from ratepayers.
