New Jersey A2859 establishes a grant program to expand mental health services for military-connected students.

New Jersey A2859 establishes the Military-Connected Student Mental Health Grant Program. The Department of Education, in consultation with the Department of Military and Veterans' Affairs, will develop and administer the program. It awards grants to school districts with high concentrations of military-connected students to expand mental health services, provide outreach, and offer counseling. The commissioner develops criteria for evaluating grant applications and determines the amounts allocated to selected school districts. The commissioner may award multi-year grants.
