Breann's Law mandates out-of-network coverage for children with catastrophic illnesses in New Jersey.

Breann's Law, named for Breann LaManna, requires health insurers, the State Health Benefits Program, and NJ FamilyCare to provide out-of-network coverage for children diagnosed with catastrophic illnesses. This coverage must be provided to the same extent as in-network benefits. A catastrophic illness is defined as an acute or prolonged condition that is usually life-threatening or poses a serious risk of residual disability. The law applies to various health benefits plans, including those with the right to change premiums.
