New Jersey A2820 requires preference for New Jersey businesses employing New Jersey residents in awarding contracts for critical infrastructure.

New Jersey A2820, known as the "Invest in New Jersey First Act," mandates that state departments and agencies, or political subdivisions, give preference to qualified businesses located within New Jersey that employ New Jersey residents when awarding contracts for critical infrastructure projects funded by state money. Critical infrastructure projects include transportation, sewerage, water supply, and building projects. The Department of the Treasury will identify qualified businesses and set limits on the preference amount.
