New Jersey A2726 regulates the use of automated employment decision tools (AEDTs) in employment decisions to minimize discrimination. The bill prohibits the sale, development, deployment, use, or offer for sale of AEDTs unless they undergo a bias audit within the past year. Employers must notify candidates and employees at least 10 days before using AEDTs and provide summaries of bias audits on their websites. The bill also establishes civil penalties for violations, including up to $1,500 for developers and $500 for employers or employment agencies.
