New Jersey A2653 mandates reporting of first responder suicides to the Department of Health.
New Jersey A2653 requires the chief of a squad or association of first responders, or their designee, to report any completed suicide by a first responder to the Department of Health. The report must include the month and year of the death, the first responder's age, salary, length of service, race, gender, cause or method of suicide, military veteran status, and level of education. The report must not identify the first responder by name or date of birth. The Commissioner of Health will aggregate this data and make it publicly available for suicide prevention and intervention studies.
