New Jersey A2648 amends involuntary commitment law to include individuals administered opioid antidotes.

New Jersey A2648 amends the law concerning involuntary commitment to treatment by expanding the definition of "dangerous to self" to include individuals who have been administered an opioid antidote for the emergency treatment of an apparent opioid overdose. The bill defines "opioid antidote" as naloxone hydrochloride or any other similarly acting drug approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of an opioid overdose.
