Upgrades assault against servicemember to aggravated assault; expands crime of bias intimidation to include offenses against servicemembers.

This bill amends New Jersey law to upgrade simple assault to aggravated assault when committed against a servicemember. It also expands the crime of bias intimidation to include offenses committed against servicemembers. The bill defines "servicemember" as any veteran or enlisted person or officer of the United States Armed Forces, or a reserve component thereof, or the organized militia of the State of New Jersey.
