New Jersey A260 establishes a five-year pilot program to provide free training for individuals seeking a firearms purchaser identification card, permit to purchase a handgun, or permit to carry a handgun. The Superintendent of State Police, in consultation with the Attorney General, will offer courses in three counties twice a year or provide vouchers for approved private courses. Eligible participants must earn less than $75,000 annually if single or less than $150,000 if married filing jointly. Upon completing the training, participants will receive their permit or card.
