New Jersey A258 amends existing law to protect employees from employer retaliation when they disclose, testify, object, or refuse to participate in activities they reasonably believe involve substantial waste of public funds, gross mismanagement, or abuse of authority by governmental entities. The bill defines "substantial waste of public funds" as conduct or omissions that result in the misuse, destruction, loss, or expenditure without valuable result of a substantial amount of moneys or resources belonging to a governmental entity.
