Exempts nonresident military spouses from New Jersey residency requirements.
This bill amends the "New Jersey First Act" to exempt nonresident military spouses from residency requirements for public employment. A "nonresident military spouse" is defined as a spouse of an active duty member of the U.S. Armed Forces who has been transferred to New Jersey, is legally domiciled in the state, or has moved there on a permanent change-of-station basis. The exemption applies to positions in the Executive, Legislative, or Judicial Branch, as well as those with state colleges, universities, or other higher educational institutions. The act takes effect immediately.
