New Jersey A2544 mandates Medicaid coverage for motorized wheelchairs for nursing facility residents under specific conditions.

New Jersey A2544 requires Medicaid coverage for motorized wheelchairs for nursing facility residents if prescribed by a licensed physician or primary healthcare provider and if the enrollee has received prior authorization from their managed care organization. The enrollee will be granted a possessory interest for the motorized wheelchair for as long as they require use of the equipment. When the enrollee no longer needs such equipment, possession and control will revert to the division.
