New Jersey A254 allows public utilities to lease equipment from the National Guard for emergency response.

New Jersey A254 permits public utilities to lease equipment from the National Guard in the event of an emergency, such as a storm or other disaster. This leasing is allowed for 48 hours following the conclusion of the emergency, to the extent permitted by federal law. The Department of Military and Veterans’ Affairs is required to compile and make publicly available a list of equipment available for lease. The Adjutant General must adopt rules and regulations to implement these provisions.
