This bill amends existing law to establish a hiring preference for Class Two special law enforcement officers when seeking positions with municipal law enforcement agencies. The preference applies to both civil service and non-civil service agencies that classify applicants for appointment. It applies to initial appointments but not to promotional appointments. The preference is third in line, following veterans and applicants whose parent was killed in the lawful discharge of official duties while serving as a law enforcement officer.
