New Jersey A2423 allows certain applicants to submit a personal statement of veteran status instead of a determination from the Adjutant General.

New Jersey A2423 amends civil service veterans’ preference laws. It allows applicants in federal active service to submit a personal sworn statement of veteran status, in lieu of a determination from the Adjutant General, before a civil service eligible list is issued. The applicant must still submit the determination of status no later than three days prior to employment. This bill applies to open competitive examinations held after its effective date.
