New Jersey A2419 requires assisted living residences and boarding homes, including residential health care facilities, to be equipped with standby emergency power generators in the event of a power outage. Facilities licensed after the effective date of the bill must comply immediately, while existing facilities have 90 days to comply. The bill also mandates that facilities sponsored by the Departments of Children and Families and Human Services, as well as community residences for the developmentally disabled, mentally ill, and persons with head injuries, must be equipped with standby.
