Increases fines for littering and requires DOT to develop a litter reporting program.

New Jersey A2340 increases fines for littering offenses by $100 each. The additional funds will be used by the Department of Transportation (DOT) to develop a litter reporting program. This program will allow people to report littering incidents via phone or electronically, including through the DOT's website or a mobile app. The DOT will review these reports and, if credible, notify the litterer about the offense and associated penalties. The bill also mandates that $100 from each fine collected be remitted to the DOT to fund the litter reporting program.
