Introduced Text

Exempts surviving spouses and civil union partners of disabled veterans from realty transfer fees.

This bill exempts the surviving spouses and surviving civil union partners of veterans who were completely disabled in active service in time of war from the basic and supplemental fee components of the realty transfer fee. This exemption applies to the sale of any one- or two-family home if the sale is made by the survivor during their widowhood or widowerhood. The proceeds of the supplemental fees collected by the county recording officer are retained by the county treasurer and used for funding priority health services.
