New Jersey A2280 prohibits health insurance carriers from using human body weight as a factor in determining coverage for treatment of eating disorders. This means that insurance companies, hospital service corporations, medical service corporations, health service corporations, or health maintenance organizations in New Jersey cannot base their decisions on a person's weight when deciding to cover treatment for eating disorders. The act applies to policies, plans, and contracts delivered, issued, executed, or renewed after its effective date, which is 90 days following enactment.
