New Jersey A2227 provides incentives for certified nurse aides and nursing students to work as direct support professionals.

New Jersey A2227 establishes a funding program within the Department of Health to compensate certified nurse aides for working as direct support professionals. The Commissioner of Health will set up an application process, guidelines, and compliance standards for this program. Additionally, the New Jersey Board of Nursing will require nursing schools to grant academic credit to students who work as direct support professionals. The bill also appropriates funds from the General Fund to the Department of Health to implement these provisions.
