New Jersey A2182 requires school districts to permit excused absences for students experiencing menstrual disorder symptoms. Students are entitled to ten excused absences per school year for such symptoms, which include dysmenorrhea, endometriosis, menorrhagia, and polycystic ovary syndrome. These absences will not count toward the 10 percent of days missed before a student is considered "chronically absent" and cannot be used to exclude a student from any awards or recognition on the basis of attendance. The absences must be recorded as excused absences on the student’s attendance record.
