New Jersey bill A2145 provides employment protections for paid first responders diagnosed with work-related post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The New Jersey First Responders Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Protection Act establishes protections for paid first responders diagnosed with PTSD arising from their work. Employers are prohibited from discharging, harassing, or discriminating against employees based on their PTSD diagnosis or leave related to it. Employers must reinstate employees to their previous positions if their fitness to return to work is documented.
