Under this bill, individuals in a marriage, domestic partnership, or civil union can share up to 12 weeks of family leave benefits for a child's birth or adoption. The benefits are divided between the two individuals at their discretion. The maximum benefits are six times the weekly benefit amount of the higher paid individual for the first six weeks and six times the weekly benefit amount of the lesser paid individual for the second six weeks. The leave must be for a single continuous period of time for each spouse, partner, or civil union member.
