New Jersey A2081 prohibits landlords from requiring rent to be paid by specific means or off-site.

New Jersey A2081 prohibits landlords from limiting acceptable rent payment methods to cash, personal check, credit or debit card, or any other specific forms of payment. It also prohibits landlords from requiring tenants to pay rent at any off-site location. Landlords must accept cash, personal check, or credit or debit card payments made by or on behalf of the tenant. Additionally, landlords cannot impose fees for rent payments made by these methods or at any location.
