Permits DOC and DCF to award medical and dental service contracts to vendors.

This bill revises the State’s procurement process for certain medical and dental contracts to increase efficiency and quality. It allows the Department of Corrections and the Department of Children and Families to award contracts for medical and dental services to vendors whose proposals are most advantageous to the State, considering price and other factors. This change aims to reduce the State’s health care costs by expanding the pool of qualified vendors beyond public employees.
