New Jersey A2017 prohibits employers from inquiring about job applicants' gender during the initial employment application process.

New Jersey A2017 prohibits employers from inquiring about job applicants' gender during the initial employment application process. The bill also prohibits employers from requiring applicants to disclose their gender or taking adverse employment actions based on gender. Employers may still inquire about gender after the initial application process if required by state or federal law. Violations of this act can result in civil penalties. The act does not apply to positions where gender is a bona fide occupational qualification.
