Establishes "Patient Protection and Safe Staffing Act" with minimum nurse-to-patient ratios in New Jersey hospitals.

The "Patient Protection and Safe Staffing Act" sets minimum nurse-to-patient ratios in New Jersey hospitals, ambulatory surgical facilities, developmental centers, and psychiatric hospitals. The Commissioner of Health must adopt regulations for minimum direct care registered professional nurse-to-patient and unlicensed assistive personnel-to-patient staffing ratios. The bill also requires hospitals to employ an acuity and staffing system to ensure adequate staffing.
