New Jersey A1931 prohibits auto insurers from using education, occupation, and credit score as rating factors.

New Jersey A1931 amends existing law to prohibit automobile insurers from assigning an insured or prospective insured to a rating tier based on their educational level, employment, occupation, or credit score. The bill also prohibits insurers from inquiring about these factors from insureds, applicants, or third parties. Insurers must file all underwriting rules with the commissioner and apply them uniformly across the state. The act takes effect 90 days after enactment.
