New Jersey A1929 requires the State Board of Education to establish a program to pay high school equivalency exam fees for low-income individuals.

New Jersey A1929 mandates that the State Board of Education create a program to cover the fees for high school equivalency exams for low-income individuals. The bill defines a low-income individual as someone residing in a household with an income at or below 185% of the most recent federal poverty guidelines. The program will not cover more than one exam per individual. The State cost of these fees will be funded by the Workforce Development Partnership Fund. This act takes effect immediately.
