Introduced Text

Supplemental appropriation of $8 million to increase funeral, burial, and crematory service reimbursements for Work First New Jersey and SSI.

This bill provides an additional $8 million to the Department of Human Services to increase reimbursements for funeral, burial, and crematory services for beneficiaries of the Work First New Jersey and Supplemental Security Income programs. The funds will increase the reimbursement level by $1,000 for each eligible person, addressing a gap where the current maximum allowance of $4,340 is only about 28% of the average cost of funeral and burial services. The bill ensures the funds do not replace other allocated reimbursements.
