New Jersey bill A1863 expands the requirement for compensatory reforestation plans to all deforested areas, regardless of size, managed by State entities. State entities must submit a plan to the Division of Parks and Forestry in the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for no net loss of forested areas. The plan must establish a goal of no net loss of existing forested area based on accepted forestry research and practices. The plan must include methods for planting, protecting, caring for, and managing trees and other natural resources.
