New Jersey A1716 eliminates the high school graduation proficiency test, which is currently required for 11th-grade students. The bill prohibits the State Board of Education from including in the standards for high school graduation a requirement that students achieve satisfactory performance on the Statewide graduation proficiency test. It also removes references to the graduation proficiency test in various sections of law, including the requirement for an out-of-school youth or adult age 18 or older to pass the test before being granted a State endorsed diploma.
