New Jersey A1675 appropriates $1 billion for after-school recreation in urban areas.

New Jersey A1675 provides a supplemental appropriation of $1 billion for after-school recreation in urban areas. The funds will be allocated by the Commissioner of Education to improve, retrofit, and rebuild playgrounds, public swimming pools, and other recreational infrastructure. Additionally, the grants will reopen parks that have been inactive for a long time and support mentorship programs and organized after-school and summer educational programs, including computer science, home economics, and life-building skills education. The bill takes effect immediately.
