Introduced Text

New Jersey A1585 mandates wheelchair-only parking spaces in certain parking facilities.

New Jersey A1585 requires parking facilities with eight or more spaces to reserve at least one percent of their spaces for individuals unable to ambulate without a wheelchair. For facilities adjacent to multiple dwellings, these spaces must be available 24/7. Otherwise, they are reserved from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Municipalities can establish additional wheelchair-only parking zones. The Commissioner of Transportation must launch an educational campaign about these parking rights and responsibilities.
