Disqualifies individuals on the federal Terrorist Watchlist from obtaining firearms identification cards or handgun purchase permits in New Jersey.
This bill amends New Jersey law to explicitly disqualify individuals named on the federal Terrorist Watchlist from obtaining firearms identification cards or permits to purchase handguns. The chief of police or the Superintendent of State Police must inform applicants denied a permit or identification card if they are on the Terrorist Watchlist. Applicants can challenge such denials in Superior Court, presenting evidence to show they are not the same person on the Watchlist.
