New Jersey A1439 prohibits the State Board of Education from requiring student growth objectives, or any substantially similar assessment, as part of the evaluation of any teacher. Under current law, these objectives, which measure student progress in relation to state learning standards, account for between 15 and 50 percent of a teacher's overall evaluation. This bill aims to change that by removing student growth objectives from the teacher evaluation rubric.
