New Jersey A1435 establishes a fund to reimburse municipalities for removing abandoned vessels and creates a working group to assist in their safe.

New Jersey A1435 establishes the Abandoned Vessels Fund in the Department of the Treasury to reimburse municipalities for the cost of removing abandoned vessels. The fund is dedicated to this purpose and cannot be diverted without legislative approval. The bill also creates the Abandoned and Derelict Boat Removal working group within the Department of Law and Public Safety to assist local communities in identifying and safely removing abandoned and derelict boats. The working group includes representatives from federal, state, and local government, as well as industry stakeholders.
