Clarifies that law enforcement agencies may hold gun buyback programs and permits voluntary surrender of ammunition.

This bill clarifies that law enforcement agencies in New Jersey may hold gun buyback programs and permits voluntary surrender of ammunition. It allows individuals to anonymously and voluntarily surrender firearms, ammunition, or weapons to the Office of the Attorney General or a county prosecutor’s office. Gun buyback programs that accept firearms must also accept ammunition. These programs can grant an award in exchange for surrendered firearms or weapons.
