Introduced Text

New Jersey A133 requires automatic voter registration to be available when applying for certain licenses and permits.

New Jersey A133 mandates that any agency, office, or local police force providing certain licenses and permits must establish an automatic voter registration process. This includes motor vehicle licenses, power vessel licenses, hunting and fishing licenses, and firearms permits. The bill requires these entities to collect voter registration information from applicants and transmit it to the Secretary of State if the applicant is eligible to vote. Applicants will be offered the opportunity to decline automatic voter registration.
