Introduced Text

Veterans can claim property tax deductions if they owned property before October 1 but bought new property later in the year.

This bill amends the veteran's property tax deduction eligibility criteria in New Jersey. It allows veterans who were previously qualified for the deduction to claim it on a new property if they became the owner after October 1 of the pretax year. The veteran must have been eligible for the deduction on another property before October 1 of that year. This change ensures veterans do not lose their deduction eligibility due to a late property purchase.
