New Jersey A1273 prohibits sex offenders from living near schools, child care centers, or playgrounds.

New Jersey A1273 expands Megan's Law by requiring local government notification of sex offender registration and prohibiting sex offenders from residing within 500 feet of elementary or secondary schools, playgrounds, or child care centers. Exceptions include those who reside at a prison or mental health facility, those who established their residence before the bill's enactment, and those granted a needs-based exception by the parole board.
