New Jersey A1252 allows municipalities to credit housing for migrant farm workers against their fair share housing obligation.
New Jersey A1252 amends the Fair Housing Act to allow municipalities to credit housing units used by low- or moderate-income migrant or seasonal farm workers against their fair share housing obligation. The Council on Affordable Housing must permit a municipality to credit units built for the use of seasonal farm workers against the municipality’s fair share obligation. The bill also requires the council to consider pertinent research studies, government reports, and public comment when estimating present and prospective need for low and moderate income housing.
