Introduced Text

New Jersey A1219 changes how judges for joint and central municipal courts are appointed.

New Jersey A1219 modifies the appointment process for certain municipal court judges. Currently, judges for joint and central municipal courts are appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate. This bill would eliminate the Governor and Senate from the appointment process for these judges. Instead, judges for joint municipal courts would be appointed according to an agreement between the municipalities establishing the court.
