Introduced Text

New Jersey A1176 revises the distribution of motor vehicle fines from State Police issued tickets.

New Jersey A1176 changes how fines from motor vehicle violations issued by the State Police are distributed. Currently, all fines go to the State Treasurer for general State purposes. This bill revises that distribution to provide two-thirds of the funds to the State and the remaining one-third to the municipality where the violation occurred. Municipalities can use these funds to defray the cost of operating their municipal courts.
