New Jersey A1165 prohibits State and local government entities from procuring single use plastic beverage containers. Beverages include beer, wine, carbonated and noncarbonated water, soft drinks, fruit drinks, coffee, and tea. Plastic does not include compostable material certified by a third-party body. Exemptions apply to existing contracts and when alternatives are not economically feasible. State agencies and local government entities must revise procurement procedures within one year.
